Tuesdays, ANIMATED INSIGHTS BY SHANNON MUIR takes you inside Shannon’s latest reflections on writing, animation, and life in general.  To catch up on all posts, check out the Animated Insights portion of the website! This installment shares her thoughts about giving thanks for animation’s influence on her career and life.

Since I talked holiday specials around Thanksgiving, and the year now draws to a close, I thought I’d take a moment to give thanks for animation’s effect on not just my career, but my life in general.

It is true I haven’t worked on a show directly in over a decade, but I still love the medium. Animation still can be used in other arenas besides television and film, such as it was applied for the several years I spent in kids’ virtual worlds. Animated classics and new creations drove the content behind a major entertainment website I did quality assurance for. Yet, things are far from over for me.

Now, as I do quality assurance in other areas of entertainment, I’ve been drawn back (pun intended) into animation as a voice in fandom history for VOLTRON. I’ve kept many amazing friends and mentors made while I worked in animation, and the evolution of my involvements has led to meeting new amazing people. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

I give thanks for it all.

Until next week!
