Coming at you EVERY Thursday this summer,  ANIMATED INSIGHTS BY SHANNON MUIR takes you inside Shannon’s latest reflections on her passion for animation as a medium, and other animated insights about life. To catch up on all posts, check out the Animated Insights portion of the website! This week, Shannon talks about catching up on the first thirteen episodes of the final season of MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC.

DISCLAIMER: Shannon Muir does know individuals working on this show personally, and has not been asked by any of them to promote this show in any way.

As someone who has been familiar with MY LITTLE PONY since “Generation 1,” it’s been amazing to see it grow and evolve and new generations of fans develop with every incarnation.

Due to work constraints, I wasn’t able to follow this particular incarnation well until Season 7, but I’ve seen very few episodes that disappoint me. The character development and story depth is fantastic, not just for the “Mane Six” characters, but all the cast.

The mid-season finale just aired the other week, and now’s the perfect time to catch up before MY LITTLE PONY returns with the second part of its final – and ninth – season. Some parts may not be as easy to appreciate without knowing the history of past seasons, but I’ve rarely found that to be a barrier.

Below is the trailer for the start of the ninth and final season.

See you next week!
