The SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS weekly column is a place at Shannon Muir’s author website open to interviews and guest posts from other authors. One thing Shannon firmly believes in for readers not only to learn about new books available, but about those who craft the tales behind them. As its name implies, SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS weekly column features writers from all genres of fiction who want their potential audience to get to know them, and their works, better – and occasionally may offer features from Shannon herself that support readers to discover words.
DISCOVER WORDS… REFLECTIONS is usually a monthly blog series, the first week of every month, that focuses on readers and the discovery of words. As part of the anniversary celebration for SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS, DISCOVER WORDS… REFLECTIONS posts will appear every Wednesday for the month of April. All blog posts written by Shannon Muir.
There’s much to be said for perseverance. It’s easy to become discouraged and give up on things.
I began INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS six years ago in a time like that. I’d been unemployed a while, and wanted to learn more skills about WordPress behind the scenes, in hopes it would better my job prospects. Also, I had a lot of free time, so I wanted to learn about books that might be out there to read (though more than likely, I’d be relying on the local library due to income). Even though I’ve gone though periods of employment and unemployment over the time, had to move servers and rebuild content from scratch, and ultimately merge the content into my author blog, I’ve still continued on steady with the mission.
So what does this have to do with reading and the discovery of words?
Never be afraid to keep exploring and try new things in reading. It can be a new genre, or a new author. Perhaps it might be a new format, such as an audiobook. Continue to persevere and keep on discovering the tales words can tell.
Until next week!
