The SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS weekly column is a place at Shannon Muir’s author website open to interviews and guest posts from other authors. One thing Shannon firmly believes in for readers not only to learn about new books available, but about those who craft the tales behind them. As its name implies, SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS weekly column features writers from all genres of fiction who want their potential audience to get to know them, and their works, better – and occasionally may offer features from Shannon herself that support readers to discover words.
DISCOVER WORDS… REFLECTIONS is a new monthly blog series, the first week of every month, that focuses on readers and the discovery of words. All blog posts written by Shannon Muir. This month shares her thoughts about Read an E-Book Week.
Read an E-Book Week is March 4-10, 2018. From what I’ve been able to learn, it seems to have begun as a way to help find newer, possibly undiscovered writers, who likely self-published as e-books since they found it hard to break into traditional publishing houses; also, it started in a time when e-books were less common. Since more items are out in e-book, it may seem it is less relevant in that regard.
However, in a time when people may be less likely to read but highly likely to carry around mobile devices, I think focus on this as a theme is important to perhaps encourage people how easy it is to obtain things to read and perhaps either re-ignite or help people discover a passion for the written word as much as the words turned to visual images on the screen.
Until next month!
