SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS – Own Your Own Tale 2019 Challenge – New Year’s Resolutions Revisited

The SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS weekly column is a place at Shannon Muir’s author website open to interviews and guest posts from other authors. One thing Shannon firmly believes in for readers not only to learn about new books available, but about those who craft the tales behind them. As its name implies, SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS weekly column features writers from all genres of fiction who want their potential audience to get to know them, and their works, better – and occasionally may offer features from Shannon herself that support readers to discover words.

In this month’s special edition of OWN YOUR OWN TALE from SHANNON MUIR’S INFINITE HOUSE OF BOOKS, Shannon Muir discusses the power of writing down resolutions, and how easy or hard it is to stick to them.

I had a realization around this time last year that for many people to make things stick, they need to write them down. In this sense, by making a written promise to themselves, it makes them feel there is something to be accountable to. Journals are often the place where people do that.

As the first month of 2018 wound down, and we continue that move into the year, I contemplated if doing something like that might help me. I’m a busy person by nature, with a lot of things to juggle, but sometimes I end up putting myself last. Would using a journal, to document goals I make for myself and to keep myself accountable make a difference? It’s something I gave serious thought to.

However, for reasons beyond my control, I didn’t pursue it. Now, a year later, I am seriously giving this a try. In fact, I am making it a personal challenge. Check back in with me the last Tuesday each month of 2019 to see how I am doing.

If you have any thoughts, I would love to hear them. Please feel free to comment, but remember comments are moderated.

Thanks,

Shannon
